USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO) brings the Girl Scout Experience to the daughters of Military, Foreign Service and American expats in over 90 countries around the world and to all girls in American or International schools. Staff teams are located in New York, Italy, and Japan.

 

We are seeking to hire 2 Membership Development Managers (Japan) responsible for developing and executing effective recruiting strategies to increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouting Overseas.

 

This position could be the right fit for you if:

  • You are prepared to relocate to Japan or are authorized to work in the U.S. and reside overseas.
  • You are interested in working on a team dedicated to recruiting Volunteers to lead troops as a part of the Girl Scouts Overseas program.

 

The Membership Development Manager (MDM) successfully develops a recruitment strategy by initiating and pursuing communication efforts and protocols needed to onboard prospective members into registered members. In this role, the MDM will be responsible for securing increased girl and adult volunteer participation as well as the community partnerships needed to implement Girl Scouting overseas.  Be part of a Global Movement to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

You Will

  • Assist in achieving the USAGSO’s goals for girl and adult membership through implementing membership strategies in assigned areas.
  • Assist in designing and implementing a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to designated geographic areas.
  • Support implementation of membership recruiting marketing strategies outlined in USAGSO’s strategic plan, annual business plan and/or other organizational goals primarily through phone and written follow-up contacts with prospective members and community partners.
  • Study and becomes proficient in girl and adult related trends, multi-cultural data and demographics, effective communication, and marketing techniques in order to effectively implement a membership plan.
  • Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made in order to meet membership goal. Prepares a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
  • Supports external recruitment efforts and is able to finalize membership enrollment leads. Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.
  • Remains in contact with community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
  • Works interdepartmentally to ensure USAGSO’s goals are met.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to determine or develop innovative techniques to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment strategies.
  • Promotes and assists with USAGSO wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors including with military and non-military entities.
  • Assists with the identification of USAGSO delegates.

You Need

  • 5+ years of sales, grass roots organizing, public relations, or communications relevant work experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred (areas of study in Business, Marketing, or Communications related field is a plus).
  • Experience working overseas and with diverse cultures preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience using Salesforce is a plus.
  • Girl Scout experience could be beneficial.
  • Marketing Knowledge – Must have demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles of marketing (for example, market identification and segmentation, interpretation and use of market data).Demonstrates comfort in presenting the value behind solutions in a way that resonates with what is most important to the potential members/customers of the organization.
  • Superior Oral and Written Communication abilities (i.e. In person, verbal, written, and/or phone); Must be able to express ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner appropriate for the individual or group; listens to and comprehends what others are saying; prepares organized and structured presentations; has demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues and communicate effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff. Ability to project a warm, inviting, and trustworthy telephone image.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Customer Relationship Management systems, and social networking.

U.S. Driver License required. International military driver’s license required (may be obtained after arrival); Valid passport required; Orientation will be in New York for the first week; A three-year commitment is required and may be extended for an additional two years (totaling five years of employment).

 

 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
