About Us

Based in Manhattan, GSUSA is currently looking to hire an experienced Content Manager, Alumnae/Volunteer Support. The individual will be part of the Marketing and Communications Community. The Content Manager we’re seeking as part of our team of “storytellers” is focused on capturing and curating the Girl Scouts brand voice, and telling our story across multiple touch points. She/he believes in the power of storytelling, and is always ready to use her/his verbal superpowers to good use, and to create integrated content packages that work across all channels. She/he will collaborate with GSUSA communities and councils to ensure consistency of brand voice and messaging across the organization. You Are:

  • A professional who lives, breathes, and even sometimes dreams about making good content (or how to make good content great content).
  • Someone whose writing and communication style is smart, funny, snappy, imaginative, clever, witty, pithy, concise and attention-grabbing.
  • Someone who can think on their feet and write quick, witty words.

You Will

  • Plan and build out content hubs and strategies focused on our alumnae and volunteer audiences, and contribute to other content areas as assigned.
  • Bring a deep understanding of our brand and organizational needs in recommending content and online strategies - including brand positioning, messaging, campaign approach, taglines, and implementation.
  • Surface the best content from Girl Scout councils around the country, and re-package it for a national audience.
  • Craft content with a focus on SEO, and use metrics and analysis to improve sharing and engagement.
  • Apply our brand voice and messaging to develop inspiring and creative content across a broad range of internal and external touch points including: online resources, articles, emails, video scripts, PR pieces, collateral, signage and advertising.
  • Write compelling, accurate, catchy, on brand and grammatically correct content at a prompt pace.
  • Be skilled at writing with a consistent voice across multiple channels, while being able to flex the message and tone - given the audience.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and consumer insights, particularly in the fields of digital content, content marketing and SEO.
  • Publish content on Adobe Experience Manager and other digital platforms.

You Need

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience writing copy for non-profits and/or lifestyle brands.
  • A degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience giving direction by writing a creative brief and taking direction from creative briefs.
  • Experience writing digital/print/interactive advertising campaigns. 
  • Strong creative credentials and track record (either in copy, editing or design).
  • To be highly organized, attentive to detail and business-minded.
  • To be a strong team player who works within tight deadlines.
  • Adobe Experience Manager and BrightEdge, or other industry leading content management systems.
  • The ability to track/record learning new software and technical platforms quickly.
