About Us

The Council Business Finance Specialist is a business analyst who has deep expertise and content knowledge in technology and finance. The Specialist works independently and in collaboration with other functional areas in developing high-level technology finance resource plans for councils. As the expert in Girl Scout technology-related financial practices, the Specialist is a GSUSA internal resource for execution approaches and strategizes with council CFOs (or equivalents) for implementation planning.

You Are

  • Savvy with the Salesforce platform and are able to develop configurations to meet accounting specifications of our councils.
  • Deeply knowledgeable about non-profit accounting functions.
  • Strong project manager that can see the big picture, break down functions into workable segments and translate desired end-user functions into solutions.
  • Skilled in driving results through critical thinking and problem solving, planning and execution, and continuous improvement; has the ability to help others see the bigger picture, connecting the appropriate “dots”.

You Will

  • Serve as a resident expert on effective financial business processes relevant for Girl Scout councils within the Girl Scout network.
  • Drive technology-related financial strategies and develops and/or maintains a framework to analyze, discern insight, and measure fiscal excellence and health..
  • Ensure that financial business processes are standardized across technology platforms and councils to effectively carry out council business, utilizing software and council finance team talent.
  • Develop technology business processes and resources for councils as part of the holistic council business model. Provides strategic guidance to council CFOs (or equivalents) in identifying critical finance business processes and solutions. 
  • In consultation with councils, analyzes council finance technology related business process needs/issues, understands the standard chart of accounts and purpose, conversant in the Financial Accounting Standards Board Codification and application to councils, to provide consistency in data for capacity building. 
  • Curates and develops resources, frameworks and tools such as case studies, templates and guides to support finance business processes universal to all councils.m Convenes targeted council learning and working sessions, opportunities for council finance practitioners to share effective practices and industry strategies 
  • Supports the development of the agenda and execution of national and/ or regional events for CFOs (or equivalents). Identifies areas of opportunity to enable finance cohorts to creatively resolve challenges.

You Need


  • A bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience in non-profit or entrepreneurial organization with preference for experience in a Girl Scout council.
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce is required
  • Demonstrated experience managing non-profit accounting and financial demands.
  • Experience in developing strong relationships based upon trust, respect, effective communication, and achievement of common goals.
  • The ability to influence and motivate others to take action by adapting personal leadership style, anticipating and persuading, and making a compelling case.
  • Thorough cultural competence by communicating, working effectively with those from diverse backgrounds, creating, and sustaining an environment in which people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives can succeed.
  • Proven examples of resources and tools developed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong project management skills.
