    The Facilities General Manager is accountable for the day to day operational management of GSUSA nationally-owned properties to ensure the highest standard of quality.


    Properties within the portfolio include GSUSA's 168,000 square foot headquarters condominium (NYC), the 46 room Edith Macy Center (Westchester, NY), the nearly 200-year old Juliette Gordon Low Historic Birthplace (Savannah, GA), the Girl Scout Merchandise Distribution Center (NJ), and leased properties (Washington DC) to ensure that the value and use of all properties are maximized for the benefit of the organization. She/He is accountable for the physical plant and facility operations to provide for the needs of the organization and its staff in the accomplishment of organizational goals.

    You Will

    • Have oversight and management of Girl Scouts of the USA's nationally owned and leased properties.
    • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations, establish standards and provide appropriate work accommodations for staff and guests at the various facilities and utilizes current technology in building systems.
    • Oversee major renovation and maintenance activities to all GSUSA properties.
    • Maintain collaborative working relationships with GSUSA staff members, Headquarters' condominium management staff including the Lead Engineer, Edith Macy Center staff, Birthplace staff, and the surrounding local communities to effectively manage facility and property operational needs.
    • Analyze operating costs and budget variances and takes needed actions to establish fiscal soundness of the engineering operation.  
    • Manage GSUSA's budget for the acquisition of capital assets, such as furniture, furnishings and office and other equipment; maintain the inventory of capital assets and monitor computer systems maintenance and inventory to ensure that the personal computer-based facility management system remains functional and updated.
    • Work with Procurement to negotiate contract business terms and oversees the work of contractors, in the maintenance and/or construction projects to achieve financial objectives and quality work.
    • Partner with stakeholders across the organization using data-driven methodologies and best-in-class customer service techniques to understand facility needs.

    You Need

    • 10 years property management experience with a strong knowledge of commercial and leased properties.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate or Commercial Building Management, or relevant equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience; with the ability to lead, motivate, and engage staff; provide input for performance reviews, experience developing, coaching and directing staff. 
    • Proven experience in working with senior executives, facility stakeholders and Finance team members providing expert knowledge on operational property related goals. 
    • Previous budgeting experience (annual operating and capital budgets) in coordination with the Finance staff.
    • Proven ability to produce property operations reports, identify cost saving opportunities.
    • The ability to influence and negotiate with vendors and contractors. 
    • Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving potential property issues using a range of strategies and tactics.
    • Strong knowledge and experience with owned and lease property compliance and obligations.
    • Experience managing mailroom operations i.e. shipping, receiving, stockroom, U.S. mail systems, large production duplication etc. required.
    • Strong familiarity with such property-related topics as ADA compliance, zoning laws, land use restrictions and covenants, waste water management, insurance, EPA issues, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


    Requires up to 50% travel involving day trips, overnight travel and weekend work schedules.
