    The Customer Office drives sustainable membership growth and Movement health by engaging our girls, volunteers, parents, councils, and supporters to fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The teams in this community are involved with network alignment and advancement of mission delivery strategies; driving the full lifecycle management of products, platforms and program, both digital and physical; council leadership support and training; cultivation of National partnerships that drive membership growth; and council property strategy and support. The teams work closely with all other GSUSA communities to bring an exceptional experience to our members and to ensure a vibrant, sustainably growing movement.

    You Will

    The Sr. Director, Girl and Family Engagement works as a team leader on the Membership Strategy and Operations team, implementing a Movement-wide girl and family engagement strategy which positions Girl Scouts as the preeminent leadership organizations for girls. This role is a critical thought leader and subject matter expert on the state of girls and families in America, informing important areas of the Girl Scout business such as our program strategy, digital product strategy, and council operations.

    Through collaborating with teams across GSUSA and serving as the face of girl and family strategy with councils, this position is responsible for driving a modern, progressive girl experience. This role is the Girl Scout expert on girls and families, understanding research on girl development and family needs, market trends, and the health of our Girl Scout offerings for these key audiences. Importantly, this position is a conduit for all of the key girl and family-facing work across GSUSA, ensuring high-quality resources are produced for councils to leverage in implementing the strategy.

    This position must be both strategic and operational, determining the long-term goals of the strategy and also the implementation plan for councils. To do so, this role will directly lead a team of two staff and serve as a project lead on integrated teams. In this capacity, the Sr. Director, Girl and Family Engagement will pull necessary cross functional resources together and coordinate with internal and external groups.

    You Need

    • 10+ years of experience in volunteerism and/or working for a membership or youth service organization (Girl Scout council experience is plus).
    • Bachelor’s degree in youth development, psychology or related fields, or equivalent relevant experience. Masters or advanced degree/certification in public administration or non-profit management a plus.
    • Proven experience working in a girl/family customer marketing field, understanding and addressing needs specific to various market segments.
    • Proven experience modelling a customer service mindset towards employees and customers, raising the bar in terms of what is expected in a customer-focused organization.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with GSUSA departments, councils, and related organizations to promote collaboration throughout the movement and advancement of goals.
    • Knows how to facilitate and synthesize input from a range of key stakeholders.
    • Creative problem-solver and consensus-builder who can deftly manage competing expectations and creatively uses resources to deliver.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex information with clarity to diverse audiences.
    • Excellent group facilitation and interpersonal skills, including leadership, influencing and relationship-building across functions.
    • Demonstrated expertise in the use of a Customer Relationship Management tool (i.e. Salesforce).
    • Demonstrated project management skills in developing strategic plans and driving them through to execution, incorporating the use of social media.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
    • Demonstrated experience in a consulting role: establishing, building and maintaining partnerships and relationship with a group of people with common yet divergent perspectives.
    • Experience in using technology effectively in large membership organizations, with a solid understanding of utilizing it to engage “affiliate” resources.
