    The Finance division is responsible for protecting the assets of GSUSA and the Movement. The division employs strong governance, sound financial principles and organization wide internal controls to ensure that the assets are safeguarded. The team is divided into three distinct functions: Controllers, Treasury and Financial Planning and Analysis. The treasury team is responsible for management and growth of three distinct investment portfolios; ensuring the fulfillment of the sponsor and fiduciary responsibilities for the Girl Scouts of the USA pension plan, the National Council retirement plan that includes 99 council employers and the 401 K employee defined contribution plan; and managing and forecasting cash flow and liquidity and maintaining external relationships with financial institutions.  The treasury team is responsible for the staffing of the Investment sub-committee and Pension Advisory Committee. They prepare and present the materials and financial analyses and reports that are necessary for the committee members to fulfill their governance obligations and to garner their support for management’s decisions.  The team is responsible for the effective management of the relationships with the pension actuaries and administrator and the investment consultant. 

     

    You Will

    Seasoned individual contributor and/or team lead in the treasury function with responsibility for sophisticated pension, investment, commercial banking and cash flow analysis.  Partners with customer groups to communicate information, give guidance on financial matters, and develop solutions.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Girl Scouts of the USA banking activity. Responsibilities include working closely with the accounting department on data requests, tracking and monitoring payments and receipts and using on-line banking software to process ACH and wire transfers as well as recording daily balances.
    • Credit and collection function- works with staff to solve day–to-day issues and manage the aging of receivables outstanding. Provides backup to customer questions and ensures resolutions are provided to solve customer concerns. Serves as liaison between councils and other external customers and finance department to ensure that all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely manner.
    • Identify trends from data to create enhanced cash flow models for management on financial results. Maintain daily and monthly cash records to compare actual operating results to budget/forecast. Assists Controllers’  function with data for short-term and long-term cash forecast. Develop improved treasury policies and procedures as needed. Back-up for cashier’s office workflow.
    • Work with the Senior Pension Analyst providing backup and support on pension issues. Create invoices and annual distributions to councils, track pension contributions and handle late payments per policy.  Monitor and process monthly expenses and challenge incremental actuarial and administrative costs. Ensure administrator is meeting service levels. 
    • For pensions, ensure regulatory reports are filed on a timely basis. Review reports for reasonableness and consistency.  Provide required information for annual audits. 
    • Compile quarterly financial information for funded status calculations for pension plans.
    • Prepare quarterly council pension communications and address issues and questions.
    • Administer the credit card & travel programs including running reports to ensure compliance and providing customer service to staff on daily operations.
    • Maintain sales tax exemptions by State and processes filings.
    • Responsible for various ad hoc reports and analyses, performs other duties as assigned.
    • Attend Investment Subcommittee and Pension Advisory meetings, prepare materials and minutes and handle follow up issues.
    • Work with relationship contacts on banking and custody issues.
    • Provide backup to the Corporate Treasurer on all responsibilities and work.

    Required Competencies

    • Requires thorough understanding of financial principles, theories and concepts including specific GSUSA financial policies relevant to their role.
    • Proficient in their area of specialization within finance, to the point that they can provide guidance to other finance professionals. Can also contribute in other disciplines.
    • Experienced in drafting RFPs
    • Self-starter who is able to grasp complex business issues and make decisions for the department on various topics.
    • Proven ability in project management.
    • Understanding of treasury and banking systems and credit card processing.
    • Experience working with custody banks.
    • Prior experience with investment consultants.
    • Deep knowledge in Portfolio Theory, capital markets and asset allocation models including major asset classes.
    • Demonstrated management experience.
    • Pension plan experience including administration and analysis of data and plan reporting.

    Required Technical Skills

    Office 365 or similar suites

    Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software

    Competency in Microsoft Excel or similar software

    You Need

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience

    Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in corporate environmen
