The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is seeking to hire a part-time (hourly) Museum Associate to work in the store providing superior customer service. By selling unique merchandise aligned with the stories of Girl Scouts at the birthplace of its Founder, Juliette Gordon Low, the dedicated staff of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace support the GSUSA mission to “build girls of courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.”   ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Primary duties of the position    As a part-time Museum Associate at the Birthplace, you will:     - Deliver excellent customer service by making all visitors feel welcome from diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.  - Operate a POS register and perform end-of-day functions.  - Develop a working knowledge of store merchandise.  - Show initiative in completing daily tasks as needed such as ensuring the product displays are stocked, dusted, and attractive.  - Fill in as needed at the front desk, assisting with house tours, and Girl Scout programs.  - Serve as an enthusiastic representative of Girl Scouting.   Accommodations will be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.  Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.     REQUIRED COMPETENCIES   You must have a background or demonstrated interest in retail and tourism industry, in working with the public and youth audiences, and in supporting the Girl Scout Movement. You have a demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service. With strong communication and interpersonal you are excited about working in an interactive museum environment. Reliable and personable, you are a team player with a good work ethic and a desire to learn new skills on the job.     REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS    Comfortable presenting to groups  Comfortable working with children  Comfort with working under pressure  Ability to learn and retain product knowledge and information on Juliette Gordon Low, the city of Savanah, and Girl Scouts  Proficient math and computer skills  Excellent customer service skills     PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This job requires the ability to serve visitors in a busy museum environment while spending time on your feet up to 6hrs and the able to lift up to 20lbs. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional museum environment.     POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work: weekends and some weekdays hours ranging from 8:30 am – 5:30pm, and some holidays.
